PDT-PD Opportunities
- Release time for ETFO-YR’s 2011-2012 PL Opportunities is being funded through the PDT-PD funds from our Collective Agreement.
- Every ETFO-YR member (permanent contract teacher) will be allocated a minimum of one full day to support their professional learning. All days must be used by June 8, 2012.
- For opportunities offered by ETFO-YR, confirmation of registration and release codes will be provided directly by ETFO-YR.
- Registration for all ETFO-YR workshops is being conducted in accordance with our “Fair Distribution Policy” (If, by the second day of receiving replies by Board courier, the requests for registration exceed the available spaces, names will be drawn by lottery; otherwise, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis)
- Please be advised that in terms of workshop registrations, preference will be given to those members who have not already attended 2 release time workshops offered by ETFO-YR this year (2011-2012).
- For opportunities offered by YRDSB through Connect2Learn (listed as “ETFO-PDT”), release codes will be provided by school principals.
- In addition to the workshops offered by ETFO-YR and YRDSB, ETFO-YR members can apply for a full day of “PDT PD” release time to attend a conference or workshop or for a teacher-directed in-school or across-schools activity (e.g. team planning, visiting demonstration classrooms, etc) using the application form below. Please note that completed applications must be received by the ETFO-YR office (by fax or Board courier) a minimum of 10 working days prior to the requested release date.

PL FUNDING:
ETFO-YR provides funding for the Professional Learning of its members, according to ETFO-YR Funding Policies (Effective July 2011) . Funding Assistance is available in 2 different categories: ETFO-sponsored PL, and non-ETFO PL. Funding for ETFO-sponsored PL can be applied for once per school year (July 1 – June 30) and covers registration up to $200 (no expenses or supply coverage). Non-ETFO funding assistance is limited: up to $150 to cover the cost of registration only (no expenses or supply coverage), and you can receive non-ETFO funding assistance once every two (2) years.
PLEASE NOTE that in both categories, the application for funding assistance must be received by ETFO-YR BEFORE the PL activity is completed.
Funding Assistance for ETFO-Sponsored PL:
Print the “Application for Financial Sponsorship to Attend ETFO Conferences, Courses, Workshops or Seminars...?
Send the completed form to the ETFO-YR office in Aurora by Board courier or by fax (905-727-2637), ATTN: Tui-Sem Won. Your application will be processed and a letter will be sent to you by Board courier indicating the status of your application.
Funding Assistance for non-ETFO-Sponsored PD:
Print the “Application for Funding Assistance to attend a non-ETFO conference...? form.
PLEASE NOTE that at the November 18, 2010 ETFO-YR Executive meeting, a motion was passed to immediately change the ETFO-YR Funding Policies (Section A, for PD that is not sponsored by ETFO) by the addition of:
“ETFO-YR shall not provide funding assistance to members for programs sponsored or run by the Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC).”
You will need to submit this completed form, along with a copy of the conference/workshop registration (showing price, date, title, etc.). Please note that the application form MUST be signed by your principal (he or she MUST indicate what, if any, monies you are receiving from the school, even if the answer is $0) in order for your application to be processed (this proves that you have asked the Board for PD funds).
Send the 2 forms listed above to the ETFO-YR office in Aurora by Board courier or by fax (905-727-2637), ATTN: Tui-Sem Won. Your application will be processed and a letter will be sent to you by Board courier indicating the status of your application.
Teacher Candidate Lunch Programme:
ETFO-YR members who are serving as associate or host teachers to students from any Faculty of Education are encouraged to treat teacher candidates to lunch once during the school year. If you are interested in this program, please read the Teacher Candidate Lunch Programme policy, and complete the attached form. Send the completed form to the ETFO-YR office in Aurora by Board courier or by fax (905-727-2637), ATTN: Tui-Sem Won.
Please submit your application form to ETFO-YR for approval PRIOR to the date of your Teacher Candidate Lunch in order that you may receive the information package to be shared with Teacher Candidates and to ensure funds are still available prior to you incurring costs.
Dependent Care Policy:
ETFO-YR will partially subsidize the dependent care costs of members who attend workshops or meetings sponsored by ETFO-YR, subject to the conditions stated in the Dependent Care Policy .
